Travel Companion
EFA has two travel companion programs:
- EFA-TIS (Traveller Information System)
and - EFA-CIS (Commuter Travel Information System)
EFA-TIS monitors an individual journey, and with EFA-CIS a commuter can request daily monitoring.
During the monitoring the programs continuously check whether problem information exists for the required journey. If this is the case the customer is notified immediately by text message and can plan an alternative route. The following screenshot shows the 'trip guidance' display. The EFA travel companion was developed as part of the RUDY research project (Regionale Unternehmensübergreifende Dynamisierung von Fahrplaninformation, Buchung und Betrieb im ÖPNV ? Regional and multi-enterprise development of dynamic timetable information, booking and operation of public transport), sponsored by the 'Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung' (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
