Information for visually impaired people
The Internet can be the ideal information and communication platform for visually impaired people. However, this can be limited by the graphic design of internet pages. Pages must be readable by screen readers. Tables and frames should not be used.
mdv provides 'EFA for visual impaired people'. This module takes the W3C guidelines into consideration, which specify how to design web pages for visually impaired people.
The pages that are produced by mdv for the IJP journey planner for visually impaired people are Bobby approved, this means that they are checked to meet the standards.
The IJP journey planner for persons with sensory handicaps have been tested and optimised with the assistance of the 'Blinden- und Sehbehindertenverband Ost-Baden-Württemberg' (East Baden-Württemberg Association for the Blind and the Visually Impaired). The pages are easiest to access directly via their internet addresses or via the home page.
Main features of EFA for visually impaired people:
- Simple, clear web page design in compliance with the W3C guidelines. (http://www.w3.org/WAI)
- Font size, input fields and other important elements are visually emphasised.
- Graphic displays have not been used.
- Voice or Braille output is possible.
- Bobby Approved
