Information for mobility impaired people
EFA is able to provide information for mobility impaired people. Precise data modelling makes it possible to integrate the steps, escalators, lifts and ramps that are involved in the interchanges into the information. Vehicle types are also evaluated in terms of suitability for handicapped persons. A person in a wheelchair usually requires a vehicle with a lift or a ramp.
For example, if the 'no stairways' option is selected, EFA will find a longer alternative route. The method is similar if the user cannot or does not wish to use lifts.
Transport for London (TfL) provides information for mobility impaired people.
The following options are provided:
- No use of stairs
- No use of escalators
- No use of lifts
- Usage of wheelchair accessible vehicles
The effect can be best explained using an example.
If the following selections are made in the extended options, alternative information is provided. Interchange at Hammersmith is on the same platform on even level.
