Vehicle schedule optimisation
The DIVA vehicle schedule optimisation facility is a powerful optimisation tool. Vehicle schedule optimisation is seamlessly integrated into the DIVA graphic schedule.
Depending on marginal conditions such as:
- Depot capacity per depot and vehicle type:
- Capacities per existing vehicle type
- Spare capacity (number of vehicles
must not drop below this figure) - Permitted vehicle types per trip
- Cost parameters for vehicle types and dead runs
- Minimum/maximum turnaround times
the optimiser tracks different goals:
- Production of a low-cost, top quality vehicle schedule
- Minimisation of number of vehicles required
- Optimum deployment of existing vehicles by determining the most effective schedule quantities
- Fastest response time to unforeseen events (engineering works, special services etc.)
- New ideas and solutions for trip and block planning
The following targets concur with the reduction in the number of vehicles, but can flow logically into the optimisation process by means of appropriate parameterisation:
- Reduction in number of dead runs
- Formation of blocks with as little route overlapping as possible
