Duty schedule optimisation

The duty schedule optimisation facility that is integrated in DIVA duty schedule is a mathematical optimisation procedure that mdv uses to avoid dead ends by means of having a high-level overview. The procedure returns a duty schedule that

  • Complies with all restrictions and
  • Plans the overall service pool.

The optimisation procedure can be individually adapted to user requirements. As well as legal and operational regulations, preferences can also be adjusted during duty creation that the duty planner takes into consideration during manual duty creation.
Examples of adjustable restrictions are:

  • Duty to be planned (including parts thereof, e.g. only duties that were previously unplanned)
  • Absolute or percentage upper limits for number of duties with certain properties
  • Average duty duration to be attained
  • Maximum dwell time on certain routes
  • Duty creation rules (reliability of created duties)

Duties and the duty schedule are assessed by the duty schedule optimisation facility using an evaluation function. This can be flexibly adjusted. The company?s evaluation criteria go into the target function. The following can be evaluated:

  • Number of duties
  • Working time, presence time, unpaid time
  • Shift type
  • Other structural properties of duties

Split duties, for example, can be evaluated separately, as can duties with a certain location or break length.
The duty schedule optimisation facility is actuated and monitored by the duty schedule program. The results of the duty schedule optimisation are displayed in the duty schedule program, where they can undergo further processing in the usual way. Duties can also be partially broken down and the broken down total performance re-optimised with modified parameters.
The duty schedule that is calculated by the duty schedule optimisation facility can be analysed using the tools provided by DIVA duty schedule. A statistical evaluation makes it possible to compare the automatically created duty schedule with the previous duty schedule.
