The state government of Catalonia has chosen EFA - Nexus, a company located in Girona, Spain, looked to mdv to provide the journey planner based on past experience and international references. The bidding process was won in cooperation with the Spanish IT-supplier EVERIS . EFA will soon be able to offer the people and visitors of ' Catalunya' (as the region is called in Catalan language) timetable information for public transportation.
The capital Barcelona, with its over 1.5 million inhabitants, is the second largest city and the most important economic market in Spain outside of Madrid.
Today there are over 7 million Catalans with a storied past - among the most famous Catalans are Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and Antoni Gaudi.
Both timetable data from transport companies in Catalonia as well as data from RENFE (in English 'National Network of Spanish Railways') will be centrally managed using DIVA to create an integral journey planner for the entire region.
Using an EFA that will be presented in multiple languages, information for a trip from Barcelona to Figueres to the Dalí Theatre Museum will be just a few clicks away!
